AMP

Accelerated Mobile Pages

A restricted HTML framework that served pre-cached, very fast mobile pages.

In practice

It is no longer required for top stories placement, and most publishers have retired it.

If AMP pages still exist, plan the removal as a migration: canonical consolidation and redirects, not a switch flip.

Why it matters

Maintaining a second version of every page carries a permanent content and measurement cost.

The speed AMP forced is now achievable on a normal page, which is why the trade no longer pays.
