Prompt timing decides the average: ask after a success moment, never mid-task. A well-placed prompt moves the rating more than any reply strategy.
Answer the critical ones. Reviews are read by prospects, and an unanswered one-star thread does more damage than the score itself.

The star rating sits next to the install button on every impression. Below roughly four stars, conversion drops sharply whatever else you fix.
