Hub and spoke

Hub and spoke

A content structure where one hub page links out to focused supporting pages on the same topic.

In practice

The hub targets the broad query and the spokes take the specific ones, with every spoke linking back. It gives the engine an unambiguous map of who owns what.

It also gives the editorial team a finite brief: a hub is finished when its spokes are.

Why it matters

It is the simplest structure that stops a content programme from becoming a pile of unconnected articles.
