Give every major section a stable id and offer a short table of contents near the top of long pages.
Keep the ids stable once published — they end up in shared links and in search results.
Why it matters
Google can surface them as “jump to” links under a result, which occupies more space in the SERP.
On long-form pages they are the difference between a reader finding their answer and scrolling away.
